Sunraku and his plans again...

Well, this season is over but felt like the arc just began, at least revolving around that GGC festival game. Oh and Sunraku has his mask on again. A lot of chatter and buildup rather than action. Good to also see Arthur back. Episode still had that competitive energy as it's setting up for the next season/arc.

Exciting times ahead with season 3.

Silvia getting interested in SLF to oversleep and pass her time...and the same is with Rakuro, though he wishes to remain anonymous during the competition. Since Towa needs to be anonymous as well, having to don cosplay is better that way. And Star Rain receiving Nitro Plus's lineup, all the only need to see is K. But a last-minute call from Kei's manager requiring him to be at another event out of emergency, and that forces him to rethink his strategy with the rest, which pressure against adversity is something that everyone has been through, and this is just like their usual for everyone to work together.

With Star Rain's lineup and Sylvia going last, Rakuro reassures Kei that he'll get this time in the exhibition match, which opens to a huge fanfare when it comes to Sylvia's unbroken record. And Nitro Squad missing K for the time being to set in the knockout tournament, they'd better make their plan work out.

Let the GGC arc begin...headward to Season 3 in yet another epic showdown!

Sunraku and Pencilgon are genuinely some of the most fun characters to see on screen interact with each other. Actual toddlers in disguise man lmaooo. Complete opposite when it comes to our man Katzo over here though, dude doesn't mess around and was about to drop this tournament for his other one. But yeah, Sunraku and Pencilgon find a way to make the impossible possible... as per usual. Doesn't matter if it's in the game or IRL, these guys will go to extreme lengths to get what they want...

We know all too well by now xD Do think this whole thing was a pretty weird thing to add last minute, other than more stakes, I guess. But it does raise the question of, well, this is a promo event to show the game right? Don’t they gotta follow contracts or something along those lines...?? Whatever, I mean, we all know why this happened, stakes aside, this is almost certainly gonna end in Sunraku fighting Sylvia... because ofc it will.

Their little entrance was a really fun way to end off the season, and a massive cliffhanger to be continued in a yet again immediately confirmed sequel. C2C have struck gold here, and if it follows the same trend of this season improving on the last, then I'm all up for this. Bring on the tournament arc... I'm so ready.

It seemed a little hopeless for a bit there when news of Kei-san having to miss the game popped up but leave it to Sunraku and Pencilgon to come up with a reckless plan to make things a little bit more possible. Difficult level from hard to very hard 'only' - That's big words, yo!

What a nasty way to end the season, truly. At least S3 was announced so it was not all bleak just yet, thankfully. One thing we know for sure is that when this is back, we'll be starting off on a high! People in the stands must be wondering how serious the battle in the washroom must be xD. They didn't seem to think the weord masked guy was Kei after all, they're quick on the uptake.

Cosplaying during the big match, that's some way to keep away the stifling tension, lol.

Another solid season. We kind of veered off a little bit here and there which wasn't ideal but it was fun nonetheless and the banger OP/ED themes were great company too.

I love when the relationship formed in online game translated into relationship in offline world as well. In business term it's called O2O (Online to Offline)

No wonder why K is so rich, he's playing at the professional level in so many games, not just one game, something almost impossible in real world. But I agree that his agency is quite irresponsible, but I assume the sponsor pay a VERY BIG COMPENSATION.

This is a nice place to stop before we get a season 3, though this episode would be much better if Sunraku and Pencilgon cosplay as their character in Shangri-la Frontier, though Pencilgon will have to wear helmet, but Sunraku would be perfect as a birdman. I haven't see Sunraku shirtless in real world yet.

Yep,figured it'd been a nasty cliffhanger.Still think s2 shouldve only been 1 Cour adapting up to Lycagon fight.

Overall, was yet another really good season. Most people didnt like that a lot of it shifted away from SLF itself, but honestly thought the mech game and Fighting game section more engaging and well paced compared to usual SLF stuff.
I'd say its on par if not bit better than 1st season, gonna go with a

This is a great season of Shangri-La Frontier... Nephilim Hollow... Galaxia Heroes: Chaos... Ruins war Hounds 6 (I don't know, you pick one...)
It showcases why I love the series even better than the first one!
Casual but still epic fights (Cristal Scorpions / Atlanticus Lepnorca), meaningful conversations / planning, great long battles (Lycagon), fun characters, stories that don't require high stakes, like real life death, to be compelling, and the narrative flows seamlessly through all of that!
I could never get bored watching this anime (except if a battle takes a lot longer than it should or they delay to line up the end of the season better..).
It is true that the pacing could have been better in 2-3 episodes but I can't hate the whole season for that.
Overall... yes.

Finally the match against the american team is starting but Kei can't be here as he needs to complete another tournament first, well the plan was to make the match as long as possible for Kei to come back but now it's gonna be even harder. (The cosplays though lmao). Anyway I can't wait to see how it will turn out next season, this anime is still as awesome as ever!!

Overall a solid season. Not as good as season 1 though. Its unfortunate for me they havent finished another unique monster in 25 episodes. So I feel like nothing special really happened this season. The great show and the next fight against the unique monster is postponed to season 3 I assume. So this season is a 7/10 for me.

Pencilgon looks cool in the character coslay. Sunraku's costume suits him as well. Cool nicknmes too, noname and noface. Ending the season on a major cliffhanger and even with s3 announced it will be a while before it airs so the wait will be decently long. That said enjoyed the season and hyped for more. Hope they can put in more sakuga for this fighting game arc.

Hmmm so you're telling me that after all this the most notable thing that happened this season was the fight against a shadow and the introduction of Akitsuakane? Not gonna lie, without knowing beforehand that the scope of the season wouñdn't give us a conclusion to this arc and put even more restrictions and difficulty to pro matches isn't a great look. Still, I can forgive it so long as it promptly delivers afterwards.

So reagarding this season, I'd say it is a step down from the first one in this sense and consider how much more exposition was given compared to delivery. Don't get me wring, it is interesting talk especially for someone like me who's interested in game design but from a show's perspective it's not that cool. The animation was really good only during the fights but then there were times when it dipped a lot. However I still really dig the banter, the way they are setting up big things and the 2 opening songs.

All in all, this is understandably not a great season but I'd say it's good enough to not be mediocre. The fights, the humour and the expectation definitely saved it.

Another banger two cour season of Shangri La frontier in the books. These first two seasons went by so quick, just such a simple and fun series that feels like a love letter to gamers. Great finale, I can’t wait to see how they’re gonna buy time for Katzo AND Sunraku to take on Ctarnidd. Thank goodness we won’t have to wait long because s3 is in production!

I’m gonna miss seeing Katzo, Sunraku, Natsumi and Pencilgon sit around and talk shit. Scenes like that hotel meeting where they were discussing strategy are some of my fave parts of the show. That team Katzo filling in for 100 percent got intentionally food poisoned by their opponent tho lmao.

Essentially trolling this game’s equivalent of the FaZe clan is not gonna be easy, but if anyone can do it, it’ll be our group.

Natsume clearly didn’t get the cosplay message for the competition 😂Sunraku’s Jack o lantern look is killing me. Pencilgon’s kinda… she’s so fire lmao. Let’s see how long that “he’s in the bathroom” excuse will work for our group!

Can’t wait for next season. This was fun.

Binged two seasons and came away feeling conflicted about the series.

Not really looking forward to the continuation of the arc. The anime didn’t give me any reason to like Pencilgon or Oikatzo—most of the time, they just feel like Sunraku clones without much else to offer, and I found them increasingly annoying. On top of that, after watching The King's Avatar, I’ve grown to hate the whole "le epic gaming tournament" trope in anime.

@joemaamah The Shangri La team is the one that is most dedicated to the series, in addition to improving the pace of the original, which is very slow. There is nothing like producers, they are just following what is in the manga in a faster and more dynamic way. The story of Shangri La is like this and will be like this until the end. From the beginning, this was already predetermined.

So we get no ending. The night wolf isn't beat, nor is the octopus. The robot bit went nowhere, nor did we get anywhere with the competition arc. The team hasn't even met up once with mr MC... Nothing happened. Everything is ongoing.

I really don't like this chaos. Not only is everything all over the place, the timing is off, too. Couldn't they wrap up the octopus arc at the very least? Why leave all the fights for season 3? I get that they feel safe that they WILL get a season three - but I will not remember a single thing of this in two years. So annoying.

Also, why push mecha into a fantasy show? Man. What a letdown of a season. Hopefully the third will be better.

Why would Sunraku claim that Kei was in the bathroom? That just makes him sound unprofessional. The truth would have been better, "he got double-booked in another tournament but he'll be along later."

In fact, given that this is an exhibition match and ranking is probably not on the line, they could have just called Silvi last night and asked her to pick fourth spot if she wanted a chance at fighting Kei.
